Customer Education

CMS is proud to report that our inaugural Cadaver RF Ablation Workshop was a complete success, with the help of our Co-Sponsor, Kimberly-Clark Corporation, and speaker, Dr. Anand C. Thakur, MD.

The workshop, led by Dr. Thakur at Wayne State University Medical School, consisted of lecture and discussion followed by several hours of lab time with a cadaver. The workshop highlighted techniques to perform RF Ablation procedure for pain management.

A number of different specialties were represented at the workshop including neurosurgery, neurology, interventional radiology, physical medicine as well as pain management.

Radio frequency ablation is now typically performed under fluoroscopic guidance using a radio frequency generator and special electrodes. The physician burns sensory nerve pathways emanating from the spine to alleviate pain for up to a year.

The procedure holds great promise for patients as a non-surgical alternative to back pain which can be performed in an office setting.

The next class will be held on May 22, 2010. If you are interested, please CONTACT US to RSVP.
